Supporting Communities Through Crisis

Responding to Unprecedented Need

When COVID-19 struck in 2020, The Anita Oromoni Foundation recognized that beyond the health crisis, many Nigerian families faced a devastating economic challenge. Lockdowns and movement restrictions left many without income, creating an urgent need for food and essential supplies. Our COVID-19 Food & Relief Materials Outreach emerged as a rapid response to this crisis.

Understanding the Emergency

Our initial community assessment revealed alarming situations:

  • Daily wage earners unable to work or feed their families

  • Elderly residents stranded without access to basic necessities

  • Single-parent households struggling with job losses

  • Children missing both school meals and proper nutrition

  • Families depleting their savings for survival

Immediate Response Strategy

We developed a comprehensive relief program that addressed multiple needs:
Essential Food Packages
Each family received monthly supplies including:

  • Rice, beans, and other staple foods

  • Cooking oil and seasonings

  • Milk and nutritional supplements for children

  • Fresh vegetables and fruits where possible

  • Clean drinking water
The packages were designed to sustain a family of four for at least one month, ensuring no one went hungry during the lockdown period.

Hygiene and Safety Support

Understanding that prevention was crucial, we distributed:

  • Face masks and hand sanitizers

  • Soap and disinfectants

  • Personal hygiene products

  • Educational materials about COVID-19 prevention

  • Basic medical supplies

Real Impact Stories
