Target Amount:

Uniting for Stroke Awareness and Prevention

A Day of Health and Hope

On October 29, 2023, The Anita Oromoni Foundation joined forces with MAID Foundation, Vedic Life Care, and the Lagos State Government to transform Muri Okunola Park into a comprehensive health awareness center. This collaboration brought together medical professionals, health educators, and community members in a unified effort to combat one of Nigeria’s growing health challenges – stroke.

Understanding the Need

In Nigeria, stroke has become an increasingly prevalent health concern, often striking without warning. Many cases could be prevented through awareness and early detection of risk factors. Our participation in World Stroke Day aimed to address this critical health issue by combining education with immediate action.

Comprehensive Health Services

The health fair offered a range of free services to attendees:
Free Health Screenings

  • Blood pressure monitoring

  • Blood sugar testing

  • Body Mass Index (BMI) calculations

  • Cholesterol level checks

  • Heart rate monitoring
Each screening station was staffed by qualified healthcare professionals who not only conducted tests but also explained results and provided personalized health advice.

Interactive Education Sessions

Throughout the day, medical experts conducted engaging sessions on:

  • Stroke risk factors and warning signs

  • Lifestyle modifications for prevention

  • Emergency response to stroke symptoms

  • Importance of regular health check-ups

  • Stress management techniques
Dr. Adebayo’s presentation on “Understanding Stroke: From Prevention to Response” particularly resonated with attendees, using real-life examples and interactive demonstrations to drive home crucial information.
